CONVERSATIONS BETWEEN ABSTRACTION AND FIGURATION

Beatriz Esguerra Art presents at ARTBO 2022 a conversation between organic abstraction and figuration. Figurative, poetic, and narrative artists Pedro Ruiz, Teresa Currea, and Pablo Arrazola dialogue with organic abstract artists Luis Luna, Jerónimo Villa, Jairo Llano, and Carol Young. These Colombian artists' diverse backgrounds and expressions offer a wide range of aesthetic perspectives, which, curatorially tied together, deliver a cohesive and enriching experience of some of Colombia's most exciting artists.

Pedro Ruiz, one of Colombia's most influential artists today, addresses social issues that concern us all, primarily that of nature conservation. The avant-garde and poetic manner in conceiving his works touch people's souls, making his message impactful and unforgettable.

Pablo Arrazola and Teresa Currea are young artists specializing in drawing and works on paper. Highly skilled in their techniques, both manipulate it by cutting, tearing, or fabricating textures to create surrealist and symbolic universes.

Luis Luna, Carol Young, and Jerónimo Villa are three organic abstract artists. Luis Luna presents his deconstructed canvases, free of the stretcher and using mixed media. The results are delicate canvases with bold brushstrokes and beautiful transparencies that float in space. Carol Young, whose latest works capture the "sounds" of nature, exhibits ceramic wall sculptures featuring curved, organic volumes. Jerónimo Villa, the youngest artist in the group, creates two-dimensional, almost sculptural works made from sandpaper. The results are works with a lot of force and movement.

Finally, Jairo Llano is a photographer who centers on forms and how they interact in space. In his most recent series, "Questions Without Answers," the artist constructs and photographs small rolled paper prototypes that acquire an almost abstract and architectural dimension as they beautifully float in space.

Delicate vs. bold, drawing vs. painting, line vs. fields of color, and volume vs. bidimensionality are the values that tie this exhibition together. Beatriz Esguerra Arte presenta en ARTBO 2022 una conversación entre la abstracción orgánica y la figuración. Pedro Ruiz, Teresa Currea y Pablo Arrazola, artistas figurativos, poéticos y narrativos, dialogan con Luis Luna, Jerónimo Villa, Jairo Llano y Carol Young, artistas abstractos orgánicos . Los diversos antecedentes y expresiones de estos destacados artistas colombianos ofrecen una amplia gama de manifestaciones estéticas que brindan una experiencia coherente y enriquecedora.

Pedro Ruiz, actualmente uno de los artistas más influyentes de Colombia, aborda temas sociales que nos preocupan a todos, principalmente el de la conservación de la naturaleza. La forma vanguardista y poética de concebir sus obras toca el alma de las personas, haciendo que su mensaje sea impactante e inolvidable.

Pablo Arrazola y Teresa Currea son jóvenes artistas especializados en dibujo y obra sobre papel. Altamente diestros en sus técnicas, ambos lo manipulan cortando, rasgando o fabricando texturas para crear universos surrealistas y simbólicos.

Luis Luna, Carol Young y Jerónimo Villa son tres artistas abstractos orgánicos. Luis Luna presenta sus lienzos deconstruidos, libres del bastidor y utilizando técnicas mixtas. El resultado son lienzos delicados con pinceladas atrevidas y bellas transparencias que flotan en el espacio. Carol Young, cuyas últimas obras capturan los "sonidos" de la naturaleza, exhibe esculturas de pared de cerámica con volúmenes orgánicos curvos. Jerónimo Villa, el artista más joven del grupo, crea obras bidimensionales, casi escultóricas, hechas con papel de lija. El resultado son obras con mucha fuerza y ​​movimiento.

Finalmente, Jairo Llano es un fotógrafo que se centra en las formas y cómo interactúan en el espacio. En su serie más reciente, "Preguntas sin respuestas", el artista construye y fotografía pequeños prototipos de papel enrollado que adquieren una dimensión casi abstracta y arquitectónica a medida que flotan bellamente en el espacio.
