Overview
Her work is rooted in listening—listening to the voices behind silence, the memories embedded in objects, and the stories that demand visibility.

Lina Leal’s work explores the most intimate layers of human experience. With a sincere and empathetic perspective, she has worked closely with marginalized communities in Colombia and Cuba—particularly with women, girls, and adolescents who have lived through different forms of violence. Her practice examines the emotional worlds, memories, and unspoken stories that shape personal identity.

Leal began her career in painting and drawing, later turning to everyday objects as vessels of secrecy and human experience. These objects, charged with symbolic weight, become central to her artistic practice. By reclaiming them and exploring their potential meanings, she seeks to restore dignity to the individuals she collaborates with and to the narratives they carry. Her work is rooted in listening—listening to the voices behind silence, the memories embedded in objects, and the stories that demand visibility.
