In contrast to the adult world—rigid and inhibited—Arrazola’s children represent a pure moment of authenticity, untouched by logic, rules, or fear.

Übermensch

Maturity is having rediscovered the seriousness one had as a child at play.
— Nietzsche

In his new series, Pablo Arrazola returns to childhood as a space of freedom, imagination, and the breaking of boundaries. Through delicate, precise drawings, the artist portrays children dressed as superheroes, immersed in symbolic play that reveals their innate ability to reshape reality.

These figures do not fight villains or save cities; their power lies in the capacity to play, to explore without fear, and to fully embody other roles. In contrast to the adult world—rigid and inhibited—Arrazola’s children represent a pure moment of authenticity, untouched by logic, rules, or fear.

The title of the exhibition, Übermensch, refers to the philosophical concept introduced by Friedrich Nietzsche, often translated as ‘superman’ or ‘overman’. It does not suggest physical strength, but rather the capacity to transcend societal norms and create one's own values. In this context, Arrazola’s children embody a deeper wisdom: they live freely, play with seriousness, and reimagine reality with bold innocence.

Übermensch is a tribute to the quiet boldness of childhood, its transformative power, and the ability to imagine new worlds from the simplest acts.
