You are immortal in another's memory; the line prevails beyond death. You live on, and physically, the gesture will endure indefinitely. You have become fragments of graphite that slide across the paper that I anxiously collect to convince myself not to forget.

Kiko,

Where are you? Where did you go? The mind is remarkable. Have you ever wondered why we associate black and white with the past? What is it about these graphite scribbles that beckon anachronism? Are you in a timeless dimension? In fluctuating space? Is that what paper is? A blank canvas of infinite possibilities where your memory prevails, and our complicity is kept alive? Is that what you are? A memory? But... what would that be?

You are a footprint, a trace, a remnant, a scar in the world, in my memory. You will never go away, and even if you did, you would never leave.

You are immortal in another's memory; the line prevails beyond death. You live on, and physically, the gesture will endure indefinitely. You have become fragments of graphite that slide across the paper that I anxiously collect to convince myself not to forget.

I understand now that you are here, inside, but in a different room, in a parallel universe to  which I cannot presently enter. However, painfully but luckily, I have something in you that  makes saying goodbye so hard.

Pablo Arrázola

"Kiko" is an exhibition dedicated to the artist's uncle nicknamed Kiko, who passed away in 2020. He was the young uncle that inconditionally supported Pablo Arrázola in his career as an artist; the uncle that always went to his openings, that cheered him on, that told him he could make it as an artist. The exhibition is composed of 15 medium and large drawings on intervened paper.

Kiko,

¿Donde estás? ¿A dónde te has ido?
